The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is hiring a Geospatial Specialist to work in the Michaux Forest District. As a Geospatial Specialist , you will serve as the District Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Coordinator and will be responsible for integrating watershed monitoring and management into forest planning and implementation. Your work will be crucial in supporting the district’s goals related to habitat, recreation, and operation, and you will play a key role in adapting these plans to meet changing needs. Additionally, you will manage district watershed and stream monitoring data sets; assist district managers in collecting, maintaining, and utilizing spatial data; and work with forestry staff in utilizing spatial technologies. As this is a professional forester position, you will assist in all levels of state forest resource management activities assigned by your supervisor.

Forester – Moshannon Forest District

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is looking to hire a Forester to work in the Moshannon Forest District. Duties of a Forester include providing prompt and courteous customer service to all requests, maintaining strong working relationships with customers, and serving as liaison to the Clearfield County Conservation District through strong communication and attending monthly meetings. Also, you coordinate and administer forestry portions of the annual Clearfield County Envirothon contest, provide Envirothon study sessions, and provide present and relevant forestry information to different groups. In addition, you implement silvicultural treatments, ensure all sales and regeneration projects meet established guidelines and completion in a timely manner, and maintain accurate records on regeneration projects, silvicultural, and timer management activities.

Forest Technician

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is hiring a Forest Technician to work in the Southeast region. As a Forest Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to Regional Forestry staff in day-to-day activities on State Game Lands. Your primary focus will be forest habitat management activities promoting young forest conditions. This will include surveying and marking boundaries of timber sales, herbicide areas, and other forest habitat treatments. You will have the opportunity to assist foresters in the collection of field data for stand analysis and sale layouts. You will also be responsible for maintaining tools and equipment used in daily operations. Provide technical support and assistance to Regional Forestry staff in day-to-day activities on State Game Lands with a primary focus on forest habitat management activities promoting young forest conditions.

DCNR Ranger – Tyler State Park

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is hiring a Park Ranger to work in Tyler State Park. As a Park Ranger, your main responsibility will be to patrol the park using various modes of transportation such as motor vehicles, bicycles, or on foot. Your goal is to observe visitor activities and ensure their safety. This may require you to navigate through rough and uneven terrains and work in harsh weather conditions. Additionally, you will be responsible for inspecting buildings and facilities for security, maintaining park signs and posters, and keeping your assigned equipment and work areas clean. It is important to present a professional image to the public and provide information and assistance to park visitors. You will also enforce park regulations and laws, investigate complaints, accidents, and crimes, and take charge in emergency situations to ensure the safety of visitors and the park’s resources.

Forest Program Specialist

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is looking to hire a Forest Program Specialist to work in the Forest Health Division. As the Area Forest Health Specialist (AFHS), you will oversee the field implementation of Division of Forest Health activities across multiple counties and forest districts in Pennsylvania. Your responsibilities will include forest pest suppression, surveying forest insects and diseases, and leading information and education programs to manage destructive forest insects and diseases on public and private forest resources. Furthermore, you will plan, coordinate, monitor, conduct, supervise, and evaluate these activities, and may also lead statewide forest health projects as a field project leader.
