I got involved with the Wildlife Leadership Academy because I wanted to challenge myself and grow as a leader, not just in title, but in action. Field school was unforgettable; being surrounded by driven, passionate people lit a fire in me. My favorite part was the hands-on problem solving, real scenarios, real stakes, and the kind of teamwork that pushes you to think bigger. I learned that leadership isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about listening, adapting, and lifting others up. The experience gave me confidence, clarity, and a whole new appreciation for what it means to lead with purpose. WLA has opened so many new opportunities for me to explore. The Academy opened the door for me to connect with other organizations and expand my knowledge of wildlife conservation. Through field school, I didn’t just learn facts; I built relationships, gained hands-on experience, and discovered how much I care about protecting our natural world. One of the best parts was seeing how WLA keeps you connected even after the program ends for the season. They truly support your interests and help you grow, whether you’re just starting out or already planning your future. As a junior in high school, I’m excited to keep learning and stay on this path, knowing that WLA will always be there to guide me, encourage me, and cheer me on.

I’m continuing to stay involved with WLA because it’s more than just a program; it’s a community that helped me find my voice and purpose. Through WLA, I’ve grown as a leader and deepened my passion for wildlife conservation, and now I want to help others experience that same transformation. Participating in Pay It Forward is my way of giving back to the people and opportunities that shaped me. It’s important to me because I believe in lifting others up, just like WLA did for me—and every donation helps create that ripple effect for the next generation of changemakers.
