Hi, my name is Zachary Rowland and I am a Conservation Ambassador and want to Pay It Forward to the Next Generation of Conservation Leaders!

MY WLA STORY + WHY I WANT TO PAY IT FORWARD
Gobblers school was my first experience with WLA. I learned about the history, biology, and conservation of the wild turkey. Two interesting facts I learned were that turkeys have different meanings for the different calls that they make. Second, juvenile turkeys can be identified from adults by different feather patterns. My favorite part was going outside to identify plants and take nature photographs. I am a recent Eagle Scout, it is a lengthy process that requires leadership on a project which benefits the community. I choose to restore and clean up an old cemetery. When I saw how many veterans were buried there, I felt passionate about making their final resting place look well cared for. I think the first step in leadership, is to feel passionate about something.
The Wildlife Leadership Academy’s field schools are a week-long intensive experience. It entails long days in the classroom setting and learning volumes of information. It also involves a lot of outdoor field training and learning. It is a tuition-based program. For this reason, I would like to help raise funds to provide scholarships for next year’s class. WLA is a great learning opportunity and it’s a lot of fun. I hope to return next year for either the Bucktails or Ursids field school.
Thank you for helping me in Paying it Forward! ~ Zachary
