Forest Insect Pest Aide

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is hiring a Forest Insect Pest Aide to work in the Southwest region. As part of your responsibilities, you will be reaching out to property owners to provide information about survey programs and conducting necessary inspections of trees or setting traps before commencing activities on private property. Adhering to survey protocols, you will be responsible for placing, maintaining, and removing survey traps. It is essential to promptly collect captured insect specimens from the traps and submit them to the PDA Entomology Laboratory in Harrisburg for identification. Additionally, you will be conducting visual surveillance of symptomatic host plants to detect any signs of target organisms. Following data entry protocols provided by headquarters staff is also crucial. Lastly, you will be conducting site assessments to identify suitable properties for pest treatment or surveys.
