Aquatic Biologist

In this position, you will support the Program Aquatic Biologist Supervisor and team members in the operation of the Black Fly Suppression Program.  Your responsibilities will include weekly collections of biological samples to determine the presence of black fly larvae in streams and rivers,  assistance with black fly treatment operations, and conducting post treatment evaluations.  Work will primarily be conducted within the Susquehanna River, Juniata River, and associated tributaries with occasional travel to other regions.

Chemist

In this position, you will be tasked with conducting laboratory analyses and examinations of chemical substances and materials, playing a vital role in supporting essential Bureau operations that are influenced by varying workloads and program requirements. Your primary responsibilities will include receiving samples, extracting pollutants of interest from diverse matrices, and analyzing these samples through chromatography techniques. Additionally, you will assist in the implementation, modification, and enhancement of existing methodologies, ensuring that analytical instrumentation is properly maintained.

Wildlife Resource Manager – Northcentral Region

In this role, you will be assisting the Wildlife Regional Director in planning, developing, and directing all activities in the management of regional wildlife resources. Work involves coordinating the integration of the regional wildlife management, forestry, as well as habitat and land management. You will be responsible for identifying resources needed to meet program goals, objectives, and priorities; conducting periodic evaluations of each wildlife resource program in the region to determine efficiency and effectiveness; as well as directing personnel management programs. You will also have the opportunity to represent the agency on wildlife resource operations, serving as a liaison with government entities, conservation partners, stakeholder organizations, and the public while leading outreach and public communication efforts.

Water Program Specialist

This role is situated within the DEP Watershed Support Section and encompasses a range of responsibilities aimed at enhancing nonpoint source management across the state. The individual occupying this position will deliver technical assistance related to the EPA Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management program and the Commonwealth’s Growing Greener grants. A significant focus of this role is to oversee and provide training for the County watershed specialist program, ensuring effective collaboration with DEP Watershed Managers. This position is crucial for fostering statewide initiatives that address nonpoint source pollution and promote sustainable watershed practices.

Forest Technician – Cameron County

As a Forest Technician, you will provide technical support and assistance to forestry staff responsible for the sustainability of forest resources throughout Elk Forest District.  Specific duties will entail collecting GPS field data, preparing maps based on data collected, and recording and entering data for processing.  You will also assist with a wide range of specialized projects such as deer fence construction and maintenance, tree planting, timber marking, herbicide application, and wildlife habitat management. In addition, you will engage in forest fire prevention, pre-suppression, and suppression activities.

Forest Technician – Clarion County

As a Forest Technician in the Clear Creek Forest District, you will engage in a range of technical forestry tasks that support effective forest management and stewardship on both State and private lands. Your role will involve assisting Foresters in gathering preliminary field data for stand analysis, which is crucial for informed forest management decisions. You will also participate in stewardship enhancement practices, including tree planting, timber stand improvement, and wildlife habitat management, while conducting tree inventories as needed. In addition, you will be responsible for determining timber volumes through marking and cruising as directed by Foresters, as well as surveying and marking boundaries for timber sales and various projects.

Coordinator, Biodiversity Conservation

The Biodiversity Conservation Coordinator is a valued member of the Disney Conservation team within Environmental Sustainability, Global Public Policy, and will be based in Orlando, Florida. Reporting to the Manager, the coordinator is responsible for assisting with the administration of the Disney Conservation Fund by supporting office functions as well as activities related to the distribution of more than $6 million in grants through the DCF annually. The coordinator will also support communications, engagement efforts, and special events to raise awareness of the DCF among internal and external audiences.

Environmental/Art Education Internship

 The intern will primarily assist the Education Department during their summer camp season which consists of day camps from June-August and covers ages 4-16. Summer camp themes will include various nature and arts-related topics. During camps, the intern will be expected to assist in leading activities and guiding campers as needed. They will also have the opportunity to develop activities and participate in the planning and preparation of camps. There may also be other Center events or programs with which the intern is asked to assist.

Stewardship Field Assistant

The Stewardship Field Assistant assists with a variety of stewardship and management duties on Conservancy preserves within  eastern Pennsylvania duties include legal compliance monitoring, ecological monitoring, invasive species control, research, updating management plans, using and maintaining equipment such as hand tools, chain saws and brush saws, safely applying herbicide, enforcing preserve policies and monitoring visitor use, performing trail, boundary, and sign maintenance, and maintaining cooperative relationships with preserve neighbors, agency partners, the general public and partner organizations. Must be able to work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances.
