The Pennsylvania Game Commission is hiring a Wildlife Biologist to join the statewide black bear program. As a Wildlife Biologist, you will be coordinating and managing the PA Game Commission’s statewide black bear program, where you will be responsible for black bear research, management, population monitoring, and outreach statewide. Work includes identifying black bear research needs and developing appropriate research proposals, coordinating orphan cub reintroductions, developing bear hunting season recommendations, as well as developing strategic goals and objectives for the statewide program. You will have the opportunity to utilize your exceptional communication skills as you handle inquiries regarding PA black bears from the public, social media, and other wildlife agencies. This position will require you to maintain an extensive working knowledge of black bear ecology, current management practices, and emerging research. Additional duties include serving as the PGC’s representative on the NE Black Bear Technical Committee, where you will be the primary source for technical information regarding black bears, including participation as an expert witness in legal hearings.
