The role entails active participation in a comprehensive one-year formal and on-the-job training program aimed at honing the essential skills and techniques required for effective public contact and customer service. This includes staying abreast of the latest developments and issues in outdoor recreation and conservation, understanding conservation principles, and receiving training in environmental education, public safety, Departmental policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, as well as law enforcement practices, all of which are crucial for carrying out the responsibilities of a DCNR Ranger.

In this role, you will participate in a one-year formal and on-the-job training to develop the necessary skills and techniques in the areas of public contact and customer service; current developments and issues in the areas of outdoor recreation and conservation, conservation principles,  environmental education; public safety; Departmental policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and law enforcement, in order to perform the work of a DCNR Ranger.  Specific duties will include assisting with patrols of the park and its facilities, and responding appropriately to any situation which may arise.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is looking to hire a Forest Technician to work in the Susquehannock Forest District. As part of this role, you will assist the Forester in managing the state forest resources within the district. Your responsibilities will involve following the forest resource plan, timber management operating manual, and relevant laws. All tasks must align with the policies and procedures set by the Forest District Manager. The Forest Assistant Manager will oversee your work. The majority of your time will be dedicated to timber management. However, you will also prioritize other assigned duties such as search and rescue, fire suppression, recreation work, and deer fencing.
