Forest Technician – Plant Protection Division

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture is hiring a Forest Technician to work in the Plant Protection Division. Your role will include conducting pest surveys and site assessments in Pennsylvania to detect the Spotted Lanternfly. This will involve contacting property owners to explain survey programs and the need to inspect trees or set traps on their private properties. You will follow specific protocols to place, maintain, and remove survey traps, as well as collect insect specimens and submit them for identification. Additionally, you will visually monitor host plants for signs of target organisms and adhere to data entry protocols provided by headquarters. Site assessments will also be conducted to identify suitable properties for pest treatment or further surveys.

Forest Technician – Bald Eagle Forest District

DCNR Ranger – Tyler State Park

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is hiring a Ranger at Tyler State Park. As a Park Ranger, your main responsibility will be to patrol the park using various modes of transportation such as motor vehicles, bicycles, or on foot. Your goal is to observe visitor activities and ensure their safety. This may require you to navigate through rough and uneven terrains and work in harsh weather conditions. Additionally, you will be responsible for inspecting buildings and facilities for security, maintaining park signs and posters, and keeping your assigned equipment and work areas clean. It is important to present a professional image to the public and provide information and assistance to park visitors. You will also enforce park regulations and laws, investigate complaints, accidents, and crimes, and take charge in emergency situations to ensure the safety of visitors and the park’s resources.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is seeking an Environmental Education Specialist. Fish Culturist – Pleasant Mount

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is looking to hire a Fish Culturist to work at the Pleasant Mount State Fish Hatchery. In this position you will learn how to collect and select brood stock while handling the fish in a manner that minimizes stress, injury, and mortality. You will learn to operate a fish stocking vehicle in a safe and timely manner, load and transport fish, monitor fish, and take appropriate action to deliver the fish in excellent condition.
