Forest Technician

Natural Resource Program Manager

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is looking to hire a Natural Resource Program Manager to work in the Operations and Recreation Division. In this role, you will efficiently carry out the Bureau of Forestry’s mission for the Division of Operations and Recreation to serve the public, field offices, other Divisions, and the State Forester’s Office. Forest Technician 

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is looking to hire a Forest Technician. As a Forest Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to Regional Forestry staff in day-to-day activities on State Game Lands. Your primary focus will be forest habitat management activities promoting young forest conditions. This will include surveying and marking boundaries of timber sales, herbicide areas, and other forest habitat treatments. You will have the opportunity to assist foresters in the collection of field data for stand analysis and sale layouts.

Forester

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is looking to hire a Forester to work at Fort Indiantown Gap to implement forest management practices in support of military training. In this position, you will work as part of a team to plan, develop, and implement programs designed to manage, protect, and conserve forest resources. Additional responsibilities include forest management and protection, timber management and wood utilization, as well as forest resource planning and wildland fire management. You will use practical application of biological, physical, quantitative, managerial, economic, social, and policy principles for the regeneration, management, utilization, and conservation of the forest to meet the goals and objectives of military training, while maintaining the productivity of the forest.

DCNR Park Resource Ranger

DCNR Park Resource Ranger

Forest Technician

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is hiring a Forest Technician. As a Forest Technician, you will perform technical forest support work at Fort Indiantown Gap. You will be exposed to a wide array of forest management practices including fire management, timber harvesting, and urban forest management. You can expect to participate in conducting various flora and fauna monitoring plots or surveys by using a variety of tools to locate and collect data. In this position, you will assist in maintenance and inventory of department equipment and supplies. You perform your work following safety protocols, especially in regards to the live-fire training aspect of the facility. Additionally, you are going to have the chance to hike in steep, hazardous terrain, and work in inclement weather.

DCNR Ranger Trainee – Cowans Gap State Park Complex

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is hiring a Ranger Trainee at Cowans Gap Park Complex. This position involves participating in a one-year formal and on-the-job training program to develop the necessary skills and techniques in the areas of public contact and customer service; current developments and issues in the areas of outdoor recreation and conservation; conservation principles; environmental education; public safety; departmental policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; and law enforcement, in order to perform the work of a DCNR Ranger. Specific duties will include assisting with patrols of the park and its facilities and responding appropriately to any situation that may arise. These situations may include safety issues, park visitors that require assistance, emergencies, and violations of Commonwealth or Park laws, rules, or regulations.
