Elisabet is a second year Ph.D. student at the University of Pennsylvania studying immunology and microbiology. Her lab is trying to understand host-pathogen interactions in the context of bacterial infections.
When she’s not moving pink and clear liquids from one small tube to another, Elisabet is usually reading, cooking, or catching up with friends. In some of her spare time, Elisabet volunteers at public schools and science fairs with the Penn Science Demos Outreach Team. Returning to the Wildlife Leadership Academy family each summer is a highlight of her year.
What Elisabet has to say about Wildlife Leadership Academy:
Wildlife Leadership Academy provided a concentrated source of leadership opportunities, environmental education, and mentoring unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The wealth of knowledge I’ve learned during the intensive field schools has stayed with me. In serving as an assistant team leader, intern, program assistant, and eventually as the program coordinator for Bucktails and Drummers for a summer, I’ve gained invaluable leadership experience. Working alongside incredible pillars in the field of wildlife conservation and education motivates me to impact new students just like they inspired me.
