Fish Culturist – Huntsdale

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is hiring a Fish Culturist to work at the Huntsdale State Fish Hatchery. In this position you will learn how to collect and select brood stock while handling the fish in a manner that minimizes stress, injury and mortality. You will learn to operate a fish stocking vehicle in a safe and timely manner, load and transport fish, monitor fish, and take appropriate action to deliver the fish in excellent condition. DCNR Ranger Trainee – Codorus State Park

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is hiring a Ranger Trainee at Codorus State Park. As a DCNR Ranger Trainee, you will participate in a one-year formal law enforcement and on-the-job training program. This position involves participating in a one-year formal and on-the-job training program to develop the necessary skills and techniques in the areas of public contact and customer service; current developments and issues in the areas of outdoor recreation and conservation; conservation principles; environmental education; public safety; departmental policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; and law enforcement, in order to perform the work of a DCNR Ranger. Specific duties will include assisting with patrols of the park and its facilities and responding appropriately to any situation that may arise. These situations may include safety issues, park visitors that require assistance, emergencies, and violations of Commonwealth or Park laws, rules, or regulations. Other duties may include completing monthly and daily logs, including the status and condition of campgrounds, facilities, equipment, visitor safety, incidents, citations, arrests, accidents, and attendance; preparing launching, mooring, and camping permits by entering the information into the Reservation and Revenue System; and collecting fees and assisting in the preparation of transmittals by checking daily receipts for accuracy and making bank deposits.

Wildlife Biologist – Black Bear

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is hiring a Wildlife Biologist to join the statewide black bear program. As a Wildlife Biologist, you will be coordinating and managing the PA Game Commission’s statewide black bear program, where you will be responsible for black bear research, management, population monitoring, and outreach statewide. Work includes identifying black bear research needs and developing appropriate research proposals, coordinating orphan cub reintroductions, developing bear hunting season recommendations, as well as developing strategic goals and objectives for the statewide program. You will have the opportunity to utilize your exceptional communication skills as you handle inquiries regarding PA black bears from the public, social media, and other wildlife agencies. This position will require you to maintain an extensive working knowledge of black bear ecology, current management practices, and emerging research. Additional duties include serving as the PGC’s representative on the NE Black Bear Technical Committee, where you will be the primary source for technical information regarding black bears, including participation as an expert witness in legal hearings.

Wildlife Biologist – Deer

DCNR Ranger – Frances Slocum State Park

You will monitor visitor activities to ensure proper facility use, secure buildings and equipment against vandalism and theft, and manage park gate openings and closures in accordance with operating hours.
