MY WLA STORY + WHY I WANT TO PAY IT FORWARD
I remember sitting on the couch one day and my mom asked me if I would like to apply for a “wildlife summer school” that she saw on Facebook. I said “why not” and applied. About 2 months later, I was accepted! I remember how stoked I was because I did end up learning more about the Academy while I was waiting for my application status! When I first got to the field school (PA Brookies) I was very nervous, but within an hour of being there, my team and I immediately clicked and made a unbreakable bond! We still talk today! One thing I found interesting was the amount of leadership a community needs to take action. That has turned into one of my main goals – “Supply my services as a leader for my local community”
I love giving back to the organizations that help me and prepare me for my future. WLA has done more than prepare me. I’ve seen such a difference in my communication and leadership skills almost immediately. Another thing is the outreach I do after WLA. It really motivates me to stay involved with my community and local organizations.
