At the Wildlife Leadership Academy, we celebrate the dedication of young conservationists who go above and beyond to make a difference. One such passionate ambassador is Eli, a Brookies alum, whose outreach work showcases his commitment to outdoor mentorship, creativity, and service in conservation.
Eli has taken an active role in introducing others to the great outdoors. Through multiple mentorship activities, he has shared his love for nature by taking his family fishing, teaching his father how to fish, and mentoring friends on hiking and camping trips. His leadership extended to the scouting community, where he guided fellow scouts on merit badge projects and led outdoor excursions.
Beyond hands-on outdoor activities, Eli has also showcased his creative talents. Using reclaimed wood from old railings, he carved and painted a brook trout. He also worked on a turkey fan taxidermy project and applied his skills in processing harvested deer to make his own deer bologna.
Eli has also actively contributed to habitat improvement and environmental service projects. His Eagle Scout project focused on building a dock at a local lake, enhancing access to nature while promoting responsible outdoor recreation. Additionally, he organized an invasive plant removal project near a church, helping to restore native plant communities and support local biodiversity.
Through his diverse and impactful outreach, Eli embodies the Wildlife Leadership Academy’s goal to develop conservation leaders who educate, inspire, and take action. Thank you, Eli, for your incredible work! The final outreach record book deadline is approaching in March, and we can’t wait to hear what outreach projects Eli and all of our Academy alums have been up to!
