Outreach Highlight: Samantha’s Passion for Conservation

We are continually inspired by the passion of our students as they take action in their communities. This week, we are thrilled to highlight the outstanding outreach efforts of Samantha, a Brookies field school alum, who has gone above and beyond in her community engagement.

Samantha has made a significant effort to engage her community through education. In addition to the trifold she created at field school, Samantha created new trifolds and displayed them at the Dubois Public Library. She developed pamphlets on pollinators, distributing them at Parker Dam State Park to inform visitors about the importance of conservation. Samantha also attended and contributed to educational presentations, sharing knowledge on fly fishing, forestry, and aquatic life.

Understanding the power of media in spreading awareness, Samantha contributed to multiple media mentions and published an original article in the Tri-County Snapshot. She had the opportunity to assist in the production of a short film, and her outreach through radio stations and news outlets helped bring conservation messages to a broader audience.

Beyond education and media, Samantha has dedicated her time to hands-on service and mentorship. She volunteered for multiple conservation-related events, assisting organizations like Trout Unlimited in hosting fishing events and supporting black bear education programs at Parker Dam State Park. She also guided nature hikes and introduced others to fishing.

Samantha’s outreach record book demonstrates her commitment to conservation, with activities spanning multiple months and engaging a variety of audiences. We celebrate Samantha’s hard work and dedication and look forward to seeing how she continues to make a difference in the future!
