Pay It Forward

The countdown is on—there is just one week left to support the incredible students of the Pay It Forward campaign! Since September, 32 students, mentors, and staff have been working to raise funds to give back to the program and support next year’s class of Conservation Ambassadors.

So far, the Pay It Forward team has raised over $7,000—and they’re just $3,000 away from their $10,000 goal. What’s even more exciting? Thanks to a matching gift from the Campbell Foundation, meeting this target will turn $10,000 into $20,000 to fund scholarships and programming for future students.

This year the team has gone above and beyond inspiring 120 individual donors to give toward their goal. Behind every donation is an Academy alum with a different reason fueling their “why”. Their passion for giving back to the Academy shines through their stories shared via personal fundraising webpages, social media posts, and letters written to local businesses.

“I am continuing to stay involved with WLA because I want help protect our natural spaces and environments. I am participating in Pay It Forward because I want to be able to give back to future alumni. Pay It Forward is important to me because it will give all students an equal opportunity. When I applied to WLA, I received a scholarship that allowed me to attend the camp. I feel like all students should get a chance to go to WLA no matter their background. WLA is an amazing experience!” – Annalea M.

“At Bass camp, I loved learning about watersheds, electrofishing, and photography. This experience expanded my knowledge and confirmed my decision to pursue a college education and career in fisheries. By supporting WLA, I’m helping provide hands-on learning about conservation for future generations.”  – Hunter B.

“My grandfather introduced me to the outdoors before I could even walk. When I was nominated for the Wildlife Leadership Academy, he told me, ‘This is an opportunity many kids will never have—make the most of it.’ Attending PA Bucktails was life-changing. It solidified my passion for wildlife conservation and inspired me to share my knowledge with others. Through WLA’s outreach, I’ve reached hundreds of youth in my county, teaching them about the importance of conservation. I want to give others the same opportunity I had. Thank you for helping me Pay It Forward!” – Trevor F.
