Class of 2023 – Record Breaking Outreach Accomplishments

After attending one of our summer field schools, the Academy encourages youth to return to their communities and undertake outreach projects. These projects involve sharing their newfound knowledge through education, service, media engagement, creative arts, and outdoor mentorship. Students document their outreach accomplishments in a record book, which is then reviewed and scored by Katie Cassidy, our Director of Outreach and Alumni Engagement in March. The class of 2023 has truly excelled in their outreach efforts, and we are immensely proud of their achievements as Conservation Ambassadors. Here is a glimpse of the remarkable projects they have completed since last summer!

Grace ran a booth encouraging others to join 4-H as a service project.

Students with high-scoring record books qualify for unique opportunities, such as invitations to return to field school as Youth Mentors, attend professional conferences, and participate in the new Apprentice Program. Additionally, the top-scoring record books from each field school are awarded the prestigious Ralph Abele Excellence in Outreach Award, which includes a college scholarship.

John B. attended the Keystone Coldwater Conference as an education project.
Ryleigh L. captured this nature photo as a creative arts project.

We are thrilled to announce that the class of 2023 has shattered all previous outreach records, including the number of projects completed (1,400+), the number of people impacted (31,500+), and the number of hours served (5,700+)! Their dedication and hard work have made a significant impact and we couldn’t be more proud. Join us in celebrating the record-breaking achievements of the class of 2023!
