Meet WLA’s Social Media Intern

This week’s blog was written by Mazden, the Academy’s social media intern. Mazden is a senior at Jersey Shore High School. In the fall, he plans on attending Lycoming College, majoring in Business Administration.

My name is Mazden Lupton, and I am from Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. I was first introduced to the Wildlife Leadership Academy over the fall of 2025 after being offered a marketing internship. The opportunity made me excited to learn a skill I had interest in, but it also made me nervous to take on new responsibilities in a professional work environment. I knew that I couldn’t pass it up, so I accepted it, and I am very glad that I did.

I am now in my fourth month with WLA. Over that time, I have learned a wide range of skills, including social media posting, website management, media analytics, video editing, marketing strategies, and how to use various behind-the-scenes programs. By applying what I’ve learned, I have consistently contributed by posting “Photo Friday” on Facebook and Instagram, updating the Alumni Jobs Board, and sending out biweekly Jobs Board emails.

Beyond just the technical skills, this internship has helped me grow significantly as a person. I have become more confident in my ability to communicate professionally and take initiative without needing constant direction. I have also improved my time management skills by balancing this internship with my other responsibilities, which has taught me how to stay organized and meet deadlines. Working in a real-world setting has shown me the importance of accountability and attention to detail, as even small mistakes can impact how an organization is viewed. Overall, this experience has improved my skills and given me a clearer vision of what I want to pursue in the future.
