Outreach Highlight – Quinn’s Conservation, Education, and Community Engagement

This month, we’re thrilled to highlight the incredible outreach of Quinn, whose dedication to conservation, education, and community engagement has made a standout impact these last few months. Quinn’s outreach journey spans an impressive range of activities. From designing new educational materials like a Chronic Wasting Disease poster and a deicing solutions display board to drying seeds to be planted in the spring, Quinn consistently finds creative ways to help others understand environmental issues.

Beyond the classroom, Quinn is deeply involved in community conservation efforts. This year, he was selected as a Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Youth Ambassador, participating in trainings, media interviews, and awareness projects. He initiated a months-long Keurig cup recycling campaign that included research, printed instructions, hands-on demonstrations, and weekly recycling efforts. Quinn also took on citizen-science work with the Conodoguinet Watershed Association and Stroud Water Research Center, preparing for upcoming water-quality testing.

Quinn’s outreach often extends into public-facing events. At Waynesboro’s Market Day, he spent hours fielding questions from more than 300 visitors on topics ranging from invasive species to white-nose syndrome. He also created comprehensive display boards, handouts, and educational tools entirely from scratch. His commitment to environmental communication is evident in his media presence as well. Quinn has been featured in multiple news articles and interviews across the region and is a regular writer for WLA’s NextGen Blog.

Notably, Quinn’s creativity shines in the arts and outdoor mentorship. He spends time photographing local wildlife, leading family nature walks, identifying trees for others, and even harvesting and saving native seeds. His service extends into unexpected spaces, too! He captains a VR Masters League team, where he coordinates schedules, leads drills, and builds teamwork skills that strengthen his leadership.

Quinn’s initiative, curiosity, and service-minded leadership embody what it means to be a Conservation Ambassador. Whether presenting science, supporting conservation organizations, or inspiring his community to take action, Quinn is making a difference. We are proud of Quinn’s work and all our Conservation Ambassadors across Pennsylvania and beyond!
