December Student of the Month – Karlie L.
The Academy Student of the Month for December is Karlie Lynn, a graduate of the Brookies summer field school this season! Karlie has hit the ground running after her field school and worked on a variety of outreach, getting out into her community to share her knowledge of the brook trout and beyond.
Karlie has been applying her aquatic knowledge all summer, taking her friends and family out on the water and sharing boating and fishing skills. While out and about kayaking, she caught a watersnake, and was able to teach her family facts about the reptile! She has also been taking friends out fishing, showing them tips and tricks for landing that prize catch.
Karlie is also always in pursuit of more knowledge – she is an active member and participant of her school’s Envirothon team. She has also assisted other school clubs by sharing her knowledge of flies and fly tying in a special presentation. Karlie also flexes the nature photography muscles she developed at field school and submitted beautiful photography to the Academy!
We love to see the variety of projects Karlie has been working on, and that she has been engaging friends and fmaily in outdoor pursuits! It is clear that aquatics are a big part of Karlie’s life, and we can’t wait to see what other adventures she engages in during her journey as a Conservation Ambassador!
