Outreach Highlight – Jake Mentors Others in Nature

A key component of Conservation Ambassador Training is the community outreach that takes place after students attend a summer field school. The Academy asks youth to share their knowledge through education, service, media engagement, creative arts, and outdoor mentorship projects. Jake S., a Bass alum and passionate outdoorsman, has been making significant strides in conservation and outdoor education since his time at field school last June. His commitment to environmental stewardship and fostering a love for nature among his peers is remarkable. Let’s take a closer look at some of the initiatives Jake has undertaken since his Bass field school experience.

Jake wasted no time in giving back to his community by volunteering at a fishing event for children hosted by his local church this past September. His enthusiasm for angling not only provided kids with a fun-filled day outdoors but also instilled in them a sense of appreciation for nature and conservation.

One of Jake’s most impactful endeavors has been mentoring a friend in hunting skills and safety practices. From helping his friend purchase his first hunting license to teaching him firearm safety and shooting accuracy, Jake’s guidance has not only cultivated a new hunter but also ensured responsible and ethical practices in the field.

Jake’s commitment to conservation extends beyond hunting and fishing. He organized hiking trips with friends to local game lands, using these outings as opportunities to remove garbage and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining clean and healthy environments for wildlife and future generations.

Jake’s passion for the outdoors shines through in his willingness to share experiences with others. Whether it’s taking them on scenic hikes or introducing them to new skills, he fosters a sense of camaraderie and appreciation for nature among his peers. As we celebrate Jake’s outreach accomplishments, we are reminded of the significance of sharing our passions with others! We are proud of all of our Conservation Ambassadors, whose outreach accomplishments are a testament to the transformative power of passion and action in preserving our natural world for future generations.
